Kung Fu Practice as Compared to Karate

I am interested in learning martial arts. I know that there are several branches or systems in this sport. Two of the styles that have piqued my interest are karate and kung fu. I am aware that for some people these two have the same moves and principles. However, kung fu practice is different from that of karate. They do have a lot of differences and I’ve learned them by reading numerous articles about the two.

Karate originated in Okinawa, Japan. Kung fu on the other hand started in China. One way to tell the difference between a person doing karate and a person practicing kung fu is by looking at their suits. Karatekas wear a white top that they call ‘gi’. This top is wrapped around their body with a colored belt that indicates the level of the person in karate. Karatekas are usually barefooted when they do their moves and techniques.

On the contrary, kung fu practitioners wear tops that are adorned with frog-style buttons. Their tops are not always white in color, they can wear different-colored tops. They also wear kung fu shoes when they perform their kung fu training and their gear is usually made of light fabrics. The movements of the two systems are also very different. Karate training focuses on strikes, kicks and punches. They consider power very important during training.

Kung fu training emphasizes soft fighting movements. They prioritize speed in their circular fighting techniques. Kung fu practitioners usually look like their doing a graceful dance. I am personally shocked at the intensity of the damage a soft kung fu movement can do. The practitioner is always in harmony with the movements that he or she makes. These are just some of the variations between kung fu and karate. I’m sure that there is a lot more to discover once I start a class on either of the two.

Increase Leg Size

If your aim is to increase leg size and you want to know how to get bigger legs, push your muscles to work hard until its limits. Work them very hard and then let them rest and grow. Engage in leg workouts that focus in lifting heavy enough weights to make your muscles grow. It is most appropriate to dedicate 1 to 2 days to your leg training, that is, if you have good recovery ability. The objective in this workout is to lift heavy weights and successfully finish 8 to 12 repetitions per set, while doing 2 to 4 sets per exercise.

Crash diets, a big no-no

Nowadays there are many different diets available whom should help you lose weight in a small period of time. These diets are often focused on a small intensive period wherein certain foods are forbidden. In this period you  will often get a nutrition schedule that you need to follow, but they neglect the fact that your body needs essential nutrition to be healthy and in balance. The natural consequence of this is, that you will lose weight in the beginning, but after a few weeks of denying your body these important nutrition, you will start to gain weight ( also known as the Jo-Jo effect). You are forcing your body into starving, but your body will not cope with this for long. So these (crash) diets, are a big no-no.

The solution to lose weight

On a long term perspective, it’s important to lose weight in a healthy manner. It’s important to realize for yourself how danger overweight is, so that you can find a good way to lose weight in the best way possible.  Although the above 2 reasons are significant, the most crucial thing to know is: Know what is causing the overweight.
