4 Diet Tips to Improve Your Skin

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Do you constantly find yourself having to deal with oily skin like me, which usually leads to a frustrating regular amount of blackheads and face acne.  You often try to get a face care routine going, but it doesn’t seem to have the impact on the problem you want.  One thing that you can do to help things go your way is to look at changing some of the things which you eat on a regular basis.  When you’re busy or stressed, often the diet is one of the first thing that loses out.  If you really want to take a stand against getting any more skin flaws, it’s key that your diet is good.

There really aren’t any laws as such for diets that reduce acne.  It’s more a process of trialling foods that may or may not be helping you to get acne free.  As with most diets, it helps for you to be OCD.  I am not even close to being able to be strict, so I usually just clear out my cupboards of things which I don’t want to eat.  It is usually recommended that you take some vitamins or another type of diet supplement to boost the range of vitamins, especially if you are deficient in zinc.

Basic Tips

  • By cutting out processed foods such as flours, sugars, fats, and salt, you will be making a good start.
  • Alcohol and caffeine are also things that you should probably try to cut out of your diet first.
  • Of course, substituting this stuff is important, so ensure you always have a ready supply of fruit, veg and healthy snacks so you don’t get tempted.
  • My favourite type of carbs are legumes – chick peas, red and black beans, as well as well as less fatty meats like lean pork, chicken and fish

Of course there are many other things which you can do to beat bad acne, so if this doesn’t work, try adding other things in too.

4 Keys to Get Rid of Blackheads

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Hi! We are here to talk about how to remove blackheads. Blackheads appear mainly on a person’s face. Usually they appear on someone’s nose, forehead, or chin. Blackheads are caused by oil and/or dirt seeping in to the pores of your skin. The oxidation of these clogged pores makes them black, hence the name “blackheads”. Whiteheads are the same as blackheads except, no oxidation occurs for whiteheads, because the pore is not open, it is closed.

Here a few tips for eliminating the blackheads found on your face:

  1. Whether you have or do not have blackheads, you should still watch your diet. Your diet can drastically affect how bad your blackheads are. Maintaining a healthy diet and staying away from junk foods, will reduce the risk of you getting blackheads.
  2. Whenever you wash your face or put blackhead fighting materials on your face, you should concentrate on the areas with the most number of blackheads. Remember, blackheads usually appear on a person’s forehead, nose, or his chin. These can lead to common forehead or chin acne. Treat these places on your face a little more thoroughly.
  3. The key to getting rid of blackheads is to release the excess oil clogging your pores. To do that I recommend that you steam your face. All you need to do is boil some water, after boiling the water you but it in another container. When you have finished putting the boiled water in another container, put your head above the container, and let the steam hit your face.
  4. Steaming yourself will help a lot, but if you want to improve the steaming process, you should put a scrub on your face while you steam your face. Making a scrub is simple and easy. All you need are the following, four tablespoons baking soda, a teaspoon of sea salt, and finally two tablespoons of water. When you have gathered all these ingredients, mix them to create a scrub. Apply the scrub whenever you are going to steam your face.

In conclusion, these tips to help fight blackheads are all very, very useful, but consult a dermatologist before applying any remedy for your skin. You should consult a dermatologist because you may have a skin condition you may not know about. The remedy that you are going to use against your blackheads, may be the wrong one to use, because of your skin condition.

Acne Free Forever

Monday, April 26th, 2010

It is very difficult to get rid of acne. I spent most of my life with over 30% of my body covered in whiteheads, blackheads and cystic nodules. Growing up in the bay area of California there is a holistic approach to treating any ailment.  I spent hours in spas in Berkeley trying to get my skin acne free. When this failed to work, thousands of dollars later, I turned to a dermatologist. I was given tons of prescription pills and creams over the next five years. One of the more famous ones prescribed to me, it is also used for anti aging, Retin-A. Most of the drugs I was given had harsh side effects and were minimally affective while I was using them. Once I stopped taking the drug or using the cream my skin would go back to being covered in acne.  This was devastating to see small improvements and experience harsh side effects only to have my skin resort back to its old ways.

My brother’s case of acne was much worse then mine. Often acne is worse in men then it is in women because of the hormonal differences. He was prescribed a drug and within two months his skin was 90% better. I was amazed at how fast this improvement took place. After four months my brother’s skin had completely improved. He was given a drug called Accutane. At the time it hadn’t been on the market for very long and side effects were still coming into full view. Some of the sided effects were depression, birth defects and dizziness this list goes on and on into more obscure and terrible things.

Having my entire chest, back, neck and face covered in acne for ten years I did not care what the side effects were. I had to go to four different dermatologists to obtain a prescription. Doctors do not like to prescribe Accutane to females because of the risk of a pregnancy while taking Acctane. After taking this for 6 months my skin had cleared up 100%. When I stopped taking the drug my skin stayed cleared up. Two years later I started to get breakouts again. My skin was still 80% better than it was originally. I got another prescription for Accutane and took it for 3 months. That was a year ago and today my skin does not have one imperfection.

For one, in order to effectively get rid of your acne problem, you need to deal with the source which is the build of excessive sebum and keratin along your facial skin. Purchase and use a skin care product that makes use of natural ingredients and those which are not too harsh and too astringent. Nowadays, there are many products available that contains essential oils like coconut and jojoba oil and these products can do you wonders.

In order to clear your facial skin of dead skin cells and excess oil, you can also exfoliate it for at least twice or trice per week. Make sure that the exfoliant you use does not contain too much isopropyl, lanolin or alcohol that can dry out your skin and lead to even more acne breakouts.

Squeezing the blackheads with the use of your hands or a blackhead extractor is also a fast and effective way in order to eliminate these nasty buggers. However, you need to be very gentle when doing so since the application of too much force will only worsen your condition.
